This week, Amelia's class had career week at preschool. Her teacher, Ms. Susan, organized to have professionals come in and talk to the kids about their professions and what duties these involve. The girls are always excited to learn new things and loved listening to a nurse, a hair stylist and a speech therapist. First up was the emergency room nurse, Sandy, who showed them some instruments she uses to help her patients get better. Of course, hands-on learning is the best way to learn:
The next day, Ms. Gloria stopped by. She is a hair stylist and brought lots of things for the girls to see and touch. They loved brushing the mannequin's hair and even styled Ms. Susan's hair.
On Thursday, a musician was supposed to come but she got sick sick, so Ms. Susan invited a speech therapist instead. The kids didn't even know that this job existed and loved learning some of the techniques Ms. Brenda uses for her therapy sessions.
And today, Amelia's preschool participated in a Hop-A-Thon to raise money for a little boy, Owen, to send him to summer camp. Owen has Muscular Dystrophy (MDA) and it costs $800 for 1 week of camp. So the kids hopped till they dropped to raise awareness for MDA and money for Owen. Special thanks to grandma and aunt Bahar for donating to this cause. Amelia even gave $2 of her own money. So proud of my little girl and her efforts to raise money for a child in need. Ready, set, hop:
Mommy got in on the action too:
After all that dancing and hopping for over 20 minutes and playing "Ring around the Rosie", the kids literally dropped:
What a fun and exciting week these girls had. And the fun will continue when we all go on a field trip on Monday.
