For the past week, every night from 6:30pm to 8:30pm both kids participated at Vacation Bible School. It was held at the same church where they go to camp during the day, so they were familiar with the staff and most of their friends were there too. It was Elliot's first time at VBS and he loved it. As a child I remember going to VBS every year and I'm so glad my children get to make the same memories. They had so much fun singing, praying and learning together. This year's theme was Maker Fun Factory- Created by God, Built for a Purpose.
The decorations were awesome too:
Lots of volunteers made VBS happening and roughly 220 children plus another 90 teenager benefited from the church members that gave their time, money and prayers. The children were grouped by age and visited several stations throughout the evening where they played games, listened to bible stories, sang, and did some arts and crafts.
Elliot especially loved singing the songs with the hand gestures.
We completed the week by attending Sunday worship service, where most of the children who attended VBS performed some of the songs they had learned during the week. I have put a little collage together from Friday evening and Sunday during worship (Elliot is on the bottom right and Amelia is standing in the first row to the left in the choir stands).
After worship, the church invited everyone to some grilled hot dogs while the kids were cooling off on the water slides.
What a fun and exciting week for the kids. They definitely were tired and ready for bed when we picked them up every night. And while they were at VBS, Derrick and I even had the chance to go out for some Thai food one night and a workout at the park another night. Amelia and Elliot are looking already forward to next year's VBS.
awesome! Our church is doing Maker Fun Factory in August. We are super excited to minister to the children in this way!
