This morning Derrick went fishing at Lake Norman State Park, which is located approximately 15 miles from our house. While he was there, he discovered a little hidden gem: a small, secluded beach. When he came home to tell us about his find, we decided that we wanted to go there. The weather was great and the kids were ready to splash around in the lake. To get to the beach, we had to walk a few hundred yards on the hiking trail but it was totally worth the little hike.
The beach is just the right size for a family to hang out and enjoy beautiful Lake Norman. Since it was mid-afternoon when we got there, the beach was already in the shade and the water had a nice temperature of 82 F (28 C). Ready to jump in:
My water babies were in heaven:
Even I got in as the water was just great: warm and no algae at all.
After an hour of splashing around, the kids were ready for a snack.
We had such a spontaneous and fun afternoon that we definitely will revisit our little private beach a few more times this summer.
