First Field Trip

Amelia had her first field trip today and she was excited and ready to go. Her preschool went to visit Patterson Farms and invited all the parents and siblings too. When we woke up this morning, it was very foggy but as soon as we were at the farm, the fog lifted and it turned into a beautiful day.
Amelia, her teacher Ms. Susan and 2 of her classmates (the other 2 were running late).
The field trip started off with a puppet show in an old barn. The kids enjoyed the little show and thought it was funny that the sheep was scared of a scarecrow.
After the puppet theater, the kids had the chance to plant some lettuce. They learned about dirt and what it takes to grow food. Here is Amelia and all her classmates: Sophia, Nia, Vera, and Leona.
And then we went to feed the animals in the barn. Amelia loved the goats and Elliot even had a one-on-one chat with a goat.  Oma enjoyed watching her grandchildren interact with all the farm animals.
Next, it was time for the hayride and Elliot couldn't have be happier seeing multiple tractors and riding on the wagon. All day long, this boy talks about trains, cars and tractors.
Of course there were lots of pumpkins to look at and some to measure up to. Every one was allowed to pick one too.
It was not easy choosing the right one...
My little boy proudly carrying his pumpkin around. He had no time for pictures.
After all the hard work, it was time for a picnic lunch and playing on the playground. The water pumps were a huge hit. The more water one pumps, the faster the rubber duckies swim down the pipes.
Digging for treasures:
But the best part of the playground was the corn pit. My kids jumped and rolled in it and even made corn angels.
We all had a great time and enjoyed the field trip to the farm. It was a great way to start of the week and to enjoy this lovely fall weather.
But our day was not yet complete because Oma and I were able to spent some mother-daughter time while getting pedicures and go shopping this afternoon. I'm so happy that my mom is here and we all can hang out together, chat, cook and just enjoy each others company.
And tomorrow, my mom will hold down the fort and take care of the kids while my husband and I will enjoy 3 days in Asheville, NC. This is a much needed couple retreat and I'm looking very much forward to it: sleeping in, relaxing, eating out, exploring a new area, and enjoying the beautiful fall colors.
