Fun with Oma

We were excited to pick up Oma from the airport on Tuesday afternoon. The kids could hardly wait to see her. She made it safely and we were delighted to have her finally here.
After a good night's sleep, we all were ready for some playtime and fun with Oma. Between playing memory games with Amelia and trains with Elliot, Oma is pretty busy.
Amelia was so excited that Oma picked her up from preschool on Wednesday and showed her proudly her classroom and art work.
But I think she was even more excited for a snocone treat afterwards. The kids loved it, but Oma not so much.
Of course, we had to show Oma one of our favorite playgrounds and I have the feeling that she liked it too. Fun for young and old:
Because Oma makes the best homemade applesauce, we went to the apple orchard on Thursday afternoon and picked some delicious apples.
On Friday, Amelia stayed home from preschool so that we can go to Zootastic, a smaller local zoo with lots of educational programs. Since the kids and I had been there once before, Amelia knew right were to go: to her giraffe friends Jigsaw and Melman.
Feeding Melman can get pretty wet and nasty:
Since we went right when it opened, not many people were at the zoo yet. It was nice because the animal encounter show was only visited by a few and allowed us to ask lots of questions and see and touch animals from all over the world. We learned about an albino Corn snake, a ferret, a kangaroo, a Cockatoo, and a Komodo dragon:
We also saw a tiger cub, Lemurs, ponies, gibbons, goats, kangaroos and 3 tigers (one was a white) before catching a tractor ride thru the enclosed Serengeti part of the zoo.
The wagon ride was lots of fun as we got to feed many different animals, big and small.
The zoo tour was so fun and exhausting, my little boy fell asleep on the wagon.
The first few days we had beautiful warm weather but today, the rain clouds moved in. However, the cold nor the wet weather kept us away from visiting the fall festival Amelia's preschool hosted this morning, There were bounce houses, and Amelia loved jumping in the water that accumulated in them, food, face painting and a choo choo train.
Despite the rain, the kids had fun and now, we are enjoying the rest of this rainy Saturday at home, playing trains and games. It is great having Oma here!
