Memorial Day Weekend 2017

After a week of settling in to somewhat of a routine (it was the last week of school and thus, lots of events and days off interfered with our regular schedule) and trying to get over my jet-lag, we all were ready to enjoy a long holiday weekend. We had planned to work on some house improvements but decided the last minute to just enjoy spending time together. We kicked the weekend of with a trip to the park, where we reached new heights:
On Saturday, we had to run some errands in the morning and in the afternoon, it was rainy and wet outside. So we just sat back and watched a movie while Amelia styled my hair:
A leisurely breakfast, a long walk thru the neighborhood, some baking, playing, and just chillin' was how we enjoyed our Sunday:
On Monday we celebrated Memorial Day. While we loved having an extra day off, we also remembered why we celebrate this holiday: honoring the men and women who gave all so that we can be free.
"Land of the free because of the brave."
All the red, white and blue we can get: I made this delicious looking fruit tart (it tasted as good as it looks- picture taken with my new Samsung S7- love the camera quality on this phone).

Right after breakfast, we took the kids on a quick bike ride thru the neighborhood before it got too sunny and hot out:
With the weather being that beautiful, we headed straight to the Y outdoor pool afterwards. When we arrived, it was still early and only a few people were there but it got more crowded quickly. The water was still pretty cold because it had rained the last two days and the sun wasn't high enough yet but that didn't keep the kids from jumping right in.
With blue lips and shivering, they finally came out of the pool for a little snack and a cuddle before we headed home for a long nap and a lazy afternoon.
This holiday weekend was just what we needed after a few hectic weeks and now we are ready to kick off summer break!
