On Friday, we were invited to my niece's 6th grade graduation party in Berlin. Her class did a few performances and skids for all the parents and guests. There was also delicious food, arts and crafts, games and face painting for all the kids.

It was so much fun until my niece hurt her foot during a game with classmates and the ambulance picked her up to get it checked out at the hospital. Luckily, it was only a strain and she was back home a few hours later.
It wasn't planned but the kids wanted to stay overnight at their cousins' house and so we did.The next morning, we all went to the Zoo in nearby Eberswalde together. This zoo is smaller than the Berlin Zoo but better suited for smaller kids as we were able to see a lot of animals up close.

There was also a tropical house that is home to bats, parrots, an alligators and lots of other birds and butterflies.
Amelia with her cousin Joshua:
But best of all was the penguin exhibit, where we were able to touch them and watch them get fed.
