Europe Trip: Prague

After a long flight, the children and I arrived in Germany on Sunday morning.  We will be staying for 3 weeks. While I'm on a business trip attending conferences, meetings and a trade show in 3 different countries, Amelia and Elliot will spend time with (and get spoiled by) their grandparents. The next afternoon, I took off to the beautiful city of Prague.
There, my company hosted their 2nd annual European Distributor Conference for our customers. While it meant long hours, lots of preparations and tons of small talk, it also gave me and my co-workers the opportunity to see some of the sights (while walking by) of this capital. Our hotel was located right in Old Town, the oldest square in the historic center; thus everything was within walking distance. Impressions of Old Town featuring towers, cathedrals, statues and the famous medieval astronomic clock from 1410.
Our conference opened with a welcome tour to the popular and oldest microbrewery in town: U Fleku.
Since 1499, once a week they brew only one kind of beer here, a dark lager.
After the tour, we enjoyed a delicious dinner in the beer garden, adjacent to the brewery.
Beer is the most popular drink in this country. Next to the most popular mole I grew up watching on TV: Der kleine Maulwurf.
When in Prague you have to try one of these delicious pastries filled with ice-cream or pudding, called Trdelnik.
Team Europe out in town at night:
Another historic landmark in Prague is the Charles Bridge. Built in the 15th century, it was once the most important connection from the Prague castle (where the king resided) to the city's Old Town and adjacent areas.
View from our conference room over the bridge to the Prague castle:
Night time on the bridge:
Just to proof that we actually did host a conference and not just ate and saw local attractions:
Our group, consisting of several of our European distributors, our CEO, marketing VIP, Services VIP and Team Europe:
Another evening out with our group of 28 people at a local brewery, which was located in the cellar of a building:
Brittany and I spent lots of time together on this European trip
On Friday, our last day of the conference, we offered several workshops for our distributors, where we presented some of our new products:
We concluded the conference with a trip to the Karlstejn Castle on Friday afternoon. As most of our customers had to catch a plane that afternoon, only our employees and a couple of locals remained to enjoy the tour. We were really lucky as the weather was beautiful and the crowds minimal.
Carriage ride up to the castle:
We had a tour guide who took us thru the castle and told us all about its history. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take pictures inside of the castle but once on top, the view over the countryside are amazing.
Team Europe:
Because that day was my boss' birthday and the next day our CEO's birthday, we all gathered together for a celebration and delicious last dinner.
This concluded our work week in Prague. While it was stressful at times, it also was a successful week and I am blessed to be part of such a great team. On Saturday morning, I flew back to Berlin, were my children already eagerly awaited my arrival. Next up, a weekend in Berlin.
